Pick a handle, claim the regatta results that are already yours, and get one page that keeps your whole sailing record — every regatta, every placing, every season.

Most sailors' results are scattered across a dozen club websites, each one
gone or rebuilt by next season. Mainsheet already collects results from the
regattas we cover. Now you can claim yours and keep them in one place.

Your page, at your handle

Go to Profile → Settings and pick a handle. Your profile lives at

mainsheet.in/@yourhandle
and brings together:

An activity chart for the year: regatta days, training sessions and the
events you photographed.

A career timeline of every regatta you've sailed, newest first, with your
placing and the event's photos.

Your clubs, worked out from where you've actually sailed rather than a
form you fill in once and forget.

Claim the results that are already yours

Open your profile and, if we've found regatta results that look like yours —
matched on your name, your sail number, or both — you'll see a Claim your
results card. Only you can see it. Claim them and your placings appear on
your timeline straight away.

If we got one wrong, choose This is not me on that result and it comes off.

Private until you say otherwise

Claiming a handle doesn't make anything public. Your profile stays private
until you turn on Public profile in settings, and you can turn it off
again at any time.

Sign in and claim your profile —
it takes about a minute.

Live badges on events racing today, kudos for a sailor's result, story cards for your best placings, and a stack of new tools for event photographers.

Welcome to Mainsheet Updates — the place we'll announce new features and
news. Here's what shipped in October.

For sailors

Live badge. Events racing today now carry a Live badge on the events
page, so you can find the regatta that's on the water right now.

Kudos. Give a 👏 to a sailor's result at an event. They'll get an email —
one per burst, not one per clap.

Story cards. Share a placing from your timeline as an Instagram story
card, with the photographer credited.

Follower emails. You'll get an email when someone follows your profile.

For clubs and organisers

Event visibility. An event can be a draft, unlisted, members only or
public — you choose who sees it, and when.

Contributors. Invite photographers and helpers to an event by email.
Their photos are credited to them on the event page and in the lightbox.

For photographers

Watermarks with a default on your setup page and a per-event override.

Free coupon codes to give photos away — to the sailors you shot, or a
club's prize winners.

Download every photo of a boat from its stack in one go, with graduated
prices for bulk orders.

Sales history listing every download you've sold.

Event photographers can now sell downloads on Mainsheet. Favourite the shots you love and pay for them with Apple Pay; the photographer is paid directly.

The photographers who stand on a rocking boat all day to shoot a regatta
deserve to be paid for it. Now sailors can buy photos from them on Mainsheet.

For sailors

Favourite the photos you want as you browse an event. Your favourites from
each photographer become a basket: check out with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a
card, then download the full-resolution files. Bulk prices kick in as you add
more photos.

For photographers

Connect your own Stripe account. You're the seller: your name is on the
buyer's receipt and the money goes straight to you.

Set your prices once, then adjust them per event: one price for a club
race, another for a championship.

Coupon codes for discounts, or to give photos away free.

Photographers can set up in Profile → Photography. If you shoot regattas

Club and association admins get their own console to manage their details, members and events — and events can now have several organisers.

Until now, a Mainsheet admin set up every club, association and event. Now
clubs and associations can run their own.

A console for your organisation

Club and association admins get a Manage console, linked from their page
and the profile menu:

Details: your logo, description, website and socials.

Events: create events, edit them inline, and manage entrants, results
and documents. New events stay hidden until you're ready to publish them.

Members: add people by email and choose who else can admin.

A dashboard showing participation in your events by fleet.

More than one organiser

Many regattas are run jointly, such as a class association hosted by a club.
An event can now have several organisers, with one as the organising
authority, and every organiser's logo appears on the event.

Event pages now open on a stack for each boat instead of hundreds of photos, with a new full-screen viewer and photos tagged by boat name as well as sail number.

An event page used to open with every photo from the regatta. Finding your
own boat meant scrolling, or working the filters. Now the gallery is organised
around the boats.

A stack for every boat

Events open on Boats: one stack per boat, with its best photo on top and
its name across it. Tap a stack to see just that boat's photos. Anything
nobody has identified yet sits in an "Everything else" stack at the end, so no
photo is out of reach.

Prefer the old view? Switch to All photos, now laid out uncropped so
every shot shows as the photographer framed it.

Better viewing

A full-screen viewer that steps through the boat you're looking at, not
the whole event.

On a phone, double-tap a photo to favourite it.

Photos can be tagged by boat name as well as sail number, so boats are
found even when the sail number is hidden.

Mainsheet now collects regatta results from Sailwave and sailingresults.net, re-scores every series, and keeps them alongside the event's photos.

Results are published in a dozen different formats, on club websites that
are rebuilt or vanish after a few seasons. We've started collecting them, so
a regatta's results sit next to its photos and don't disappear.

Two sources to start

Sailwave, the scoring program most clubs use, from its published
results pages.

sailingresults.net, including its older page formats, so we can bring in
championships going back to 2015.

Checked, not just copied

We don't simply copy the published table. Mainsheet re-scores every series
itself, applying discards, tie-breaks and penalty codes, then compares every
total and placing against the published page. If anything disagrees, a
person reviews it before it's published.

This is the foundation for something sailors have asked for since the start:
a record of every regatta you've sailed, in one place.

Class associations get their own page and events, and clubs and associations can embed their events and marketplace listings on their own websites.

A home for every class association

Class associations — from a state association up to a national and
international body — now have their own page on Mainsheet, with their logo,
a banner of photos from their events, and the regattas they sanction.

An event only appears under an association once the association approves it,
so the list is always theirs to control.

Every club, class and sailor at one simple address

Clubs, associations and, soon, sailors all share one set of short names, so

mainsheet.in/your-club
is your club's page, and nobody else can take it.

Put it on your own website

Clubs and associations can now embed Mainsheet on their own website with one
snippet:

Events: an association's regattas, latest first, linking to each
event's photos.

Marketplace listings: a club's own listings, a class's listings, or a
class at particular clubs.

The embeds stay up to date on their own, so nobody has to edit the website
after every regatta. Get the code from the

Two tools for the sign-in desk and the dinghy park — an iPad sign-on page that subscribes sailors to their photos, and printed dolly tags you can scan.

We built these two tools in the week before a 150-boat dinghy regatta, to fix
two problems every club running a big event will recognise.

Sign-on at the desk

Put an iPad on the registration desk with the event's sign-on page open.
Sailors type their email and sail number, the iPad plays a start horn, and
they're subscribed to their boat's photos from the regatta.

They get an email that signs them in on their own phone. The iPad never
stays signed in to anyone's account, so the next sailor can step straight up.

Dolly tags that scan

Once the boats launch, the dinghy park fills with dollies, and someone has to
make sure the right one is waiting when each boat comes ashore.

Organisers can now paste in the entry list and print a tag for every dolly on
a Dymo label printer: class, fleet, sail number, sailor name and a QR code.
In the park, scan a tag with a phone camera to mark that dolly launched or
returned, with a different sound for each so you can work without looking
at the screen.

Buy and sell boats and gear through your club — listings from sailors in your class, in-app messages, watches and a printable listing with a QR code.

Most second-hand boats and sails change hands between sailors who already
know each other: same club, same class, same dinghy park. The Mainsheet
Marketplace is built for that.

Listings that belong to a club

Every listing is posted through a club, so buyers can see where the boat is
and who's selling it. Browse by club, class, price and condition, as a list
or a grid, and save the listings you're watching.

Talk to the seller without swapping numbers

Message a seller in Mainsheet and they get an email; their phone number and
email only show if they choose to share them.

Built for the noticeboard too

Print a listing on one A4 page with a QR code, for the club noticeboard.

Share to WhatsApp in one tap, for the class group chat.

Listings also appear on the club's page and the club's event galleries, in
front of the sailors most likely to want them.

Scrolling through 800 photos looking for one boat is nobody's idea of fun. So
Mainsheet now does the looking for you.

Sail numbers, read for you

When photos are uploaded to an event, Mainsheet reads the sail numbers in
them using AI. A person then checks every match before it's published, so the
photo tagged with your number really is your boat.

On the event page, filter by sail number and you see only your boat.

An email when your photos are ready

Subscribe to your sail number and, once an event's photos are published,
we'll email you a few of the best shots of your boat, with a link straight to
the rest.

A slideshow for the clubhouse

Now Mainsheet can keep that list for you.

From your profile you can add your boats and gear — hulls, sails, spars
and foils — picked from a catalogue of manufacturers and products, with the
serial number on each piece.

We started with the Optimist, where a single family can own several hulls and
a stack of sails, and the catalogue will keep growing class by class.

This is also groundwork. Knowing what you sail is what lets Mainsheet link
your photos and results to the right boat later on.

Every club gets its own page listing its regattas, and event galleries now load resized images only as you scroll to them.

Two changes this month, one for clubs and one for everyone with a phone.

A page for every club

Events now belong to a club, and each club has its own page listing its
regattas. Every event page links back to the club that ran it, so you can go
from one regatta's photos to the rest of the club's season in a tap.

Faster galleries

Event galleries used to download full-size photographs. They now ask for
resized images, sharp enough for a retina screen but a fraction of the
size, and only load each one as it scrolls into view. Big regattas open
noticeably faster, especially on mobile data at the club.

Every Mainsheet sailor now has a profile — the sail numbers you follow, your avatar, and a home for the photos you favourite.

A month after the first event page went up, it was clear the photos weren't
the whole story. The sailor in them was. So every Mainsheet account now comes
with a profile.

The sail numbers you follow

Add your sail number, or your kids', or the boat you crew on, and Mainsheet
knows which boats are yours. It's the first step to finding your photos
without scrolling through a whole regatta.

Your photos, kept

Tap the heart on any photo and it's saved to your favourites, ready to view
and download again, long after the regatta's over.

Make it yours

Pick an avatar, or none at all. It shows next to your name across Mainsheet.

Where it's going

This is the seed of something bigger: a single place for a sailor's whole
record — every regatta, every placing, every season. Profiles have grown a

Mainsheet began as one simple idea — every photo from a regatta, on one page, findable by the sailors in them.

Every regatta produces hundreds of photographs. Most of them end up in a
shared drive, a Facebook album or a photographer's hard disk, and the sailors
in them never see them.

Mainsheet started on 10 March 2025 with a single page per event: the
regatta's photos in one place, filterable, and behind a quick sign-in so the
people in them could find and keep them.

Why we're building it

Our mission is to engage and grow the sailing community. We want more sailors
on the water tomorrow than there were today.

Photos were the obvious place to start. They're what sailors share, what
parents look for on a Sunday night, and what makes someone who missed the
regatta want to be at the next one.

What came next

The first version was deliberately small. Everything in these updates, from
sailor profiles and results to the marketplace and club tools, grew
out of watching how sailors, clubs and photographers used that first page.
